Mike Williamson feels he deserves his Premier League chance with Newcastle United.
The defender was plucked from Portsmouth reserves last season by Toon.
He said: "I've waited a long time to get my chance in the Premier League and everyone knows how frustrating it was for me to go to Portsmouth last year and not play a single game.
"I've been really pleased with my own performances. This is something I've been looking forward to my whole life really.
"I've had a few setbacks along the way, but I feel as though all the patience and hardwork has paid off. It's fantastic to be able to show I can play at this level."
