Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson admits their Premiership campaign is the biggest opportunity he's had in football.
It is a far cry from his days as a player with Torquay and Wycombe in the lower divisions.
Former Watford defender Williamson told the Evening Chronicle: "This is my biggest opportunity to date.
"I want to be as fit and strong as possible for the opening day of the season to make sure I have the best possible chance of getting into the starting XI.
"I enjoyed the break, but you always look forward to getting back into the day-to-day training and seeing the boys.
"It has just carried on from last season - everyone is buzzing and looking forward to the kick-off.
"Everyone has come back in good shape and is looking forward to the week in Ireland."
