Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has paid tribute to Southampton striker Ricki Lambert.

Taylor is a big fan of the centre-forward.

He told the Sunday Sun: "He has done a magnificent job for Southampton over the past few seasons. His goals were a big reason they got to the Premier League. He was particularly good last season when they came up from the Championship.

"I have always been a fan of Lambert. He's been a really good centre-forward throughout his career.

"I'll tell you something about him because I have watched him closely, I think he is so under-rated, one of the most under-rated players in the country. That has always been the case with him for some reason."
