Newcastle United defender Davide Santon is confident he can be a long-term Premier League player.

He says his game can be adapted to suit English football.

Santon admitted to the Sunday Sun: "Football over here is a lot more physical. In Italy, the players are more dramatic. There are more theatrics and fouls are punished much more easily.

"In Italy if you give a player a hard push or a hard tackle, it can sometimes be a red card.

"Over here, it is nothing. In fact the crowd cheers!"
