Gateshead have snapped up Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett on a month's loan.

Welsh Under-21 international Dummett, who trained with the squad yesterday, can't wait to test himself in the Conference.

Dummett told the Evening Chronicle: "It is a great chance to play some good football at a good level.

"At my age it is what I need to do, to test myself at a strong level, stepping up from reserve football to men's football."
