Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse won't be fit for next season's kickoff.
The Daily Mail says the striker had an operation on a fractured patella on Thursday, as a result of an injury he sustained in the Toon's 2-1 home defeat by Swansea last month.
Having travelled to Paris for the operation, the club's website confirmed the 28-year-old will spend his rehabilitation period at the Clairefontaine Medical Centre before returning to Tyneside to be further assessed by Newcastle's medical staff.
