Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is still some way from finding a new assistant manager.
The Sunday Sun says Hughton admitted this week that he had made "no progress" on appointing a right-hand man to replace Colin Calderwood, who left for Hibernian five weeks ago.
And that impasse looks set to continue for a while yet - with uncertainties surrounding Hughton's own contract apparently making it difficult for him to recruit.
So far Newcastle have only made one formal approach, to former Chelsea and Toon assistant Steve Clarke. Other candidates have been made aware of the vacancy, but there is a reticence to jump on board with Hughton out of contract at the end of the season.
