Newcastle United are closing on a deal for AS Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere.

The Evening Chronicle says the Toon are understood to have won the race to sign Riviere.

French reports tonight say that Newcastle have pipped West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City to the Monaco striker's signature.

And it is believed that the player is now on his way to Newcastle to tie up a deal.
