Newcastle confident winning race for Remy

Newcastle United are convinced they have a deal for Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The Daily Star says though the Geordies have yet to table a bid, Toon are hoping to push through a £9m deal by the end of the week.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp watched the French international in action for Marseilles in their 2-1 Cup win over Guingamp on Sunday night.

But Redknapp believes that if it is a straight choice between QPR and Newcastle, the player would opt for a move to St James' Park.
