Newcastle confident securing Demba Ba to restructured deal

Newcastle United intend to offer striker Demba Ba a new contract.

The People says the Toon Army will be relieved that part of the deal will be to remove the 26-year-old striker's £7m get-out clause.

The Geordie fans were rocked when it was revealed last month that Ba had this clause despite signing a three-year contract at the start of the season.

A Newcastle source said: "The fact that we're putting a new deal together for Ba has nothing to do with what David Sullivan said. It was always our intention to sort out a new contract for him when he returned from the African Nations Cup.

"He's never given any indication he'd take advantage of this get-out clause."
