Newcastle United will sign Paris St Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc, 24, for £6.5m in the next couple of weeks.

The word from the French capital is that a deal is close and the Turkish international should be on the plane when Newcastle fly out for their three-match US tour on July 20, says the People.

Erdinc's agent has already admitted his ambition to move to St James' Park.
