Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond says he is pleased to leave Japan with a point in his pocket.
Despite leading for much of the encounter, the Jets had to settle for a draw but it holds them in good stead as they have four points from three matches with two home fixtures remaining.
It was an interesting game," he said.
"We went a goal up and it was good play.
"In the second half we defended too deep, which made it more difficult. But overall we were well disciplined, and defensively it was excellent.
"For us to get the result like this away from home is obviously pleasing. Now the challenge is to go home and to replicate a good performance that hopefully gets three points."
