Newcastle United caretaker coach Chris Hughton is convinced Michael Owen is destined for a massive comeback game at Hull City.

Hughton said: "He says the Hull game is a cup final and he's in that frame of mind because I don't think there is one player in that changing room who is not aware of the position we are in and that we have to get points on the board.

"Michael can lead by example. He's a big player for us. We have missed his presence and his goals record speaks for itself. Whether it will be Michael Owen or Joe Bloggs, you want your big players involved."
