Newly-appointed Newcastle United coach Chris Hughton was impressed by local lad Andy Carroll's two-goal performance in the reserves victory over Everton this week.
"He's given two big defenders the runaround all night and, even before he'd scored his goals, he'd had a very good game," Hughton told nufc.co.uk.
"He's taken his two goals extremely well and the challenge for him now is to keep on improving at the rate he has done.
"If he keeps working hard in training and doing what he's doing for the reserves then he could get his first-team chance."
