Newcastle United chiefs are working overtime to land their transfer targets.
The Evening Chronicle says experienced strikers such as Tottenham pair Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch were under consideration, while left-backs Nicky Shorey of West Brom, Stephen Warnock of Aston Villa and Manchester City's Wayne Bridge are also on the Magpies' shortlist.
A Toon source said today: "There are other priorities at the moment.
"The manager is focusing on getting in the striker he needs.
"And the fact that a left-back is needed in the event of Jose Enrique leaving is also not lost on anybody here.
"It is very much a case of judging Newcastle's business when the window is closed."
