Newcastle United are locked in talks for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong.

The Daily Mail says Newcastle director of football Joe Kinnear has flown out to Germany to finalise the move for the free-scoring 23-year-old.

The former Twente FC forward has been the Magpies' primary transfer target throughout January and is valued at £12million by his club.
