Newcastle United academy chief Willie Donachie expects more young players to move out on-loan next season.

Connor Newton and Paul Dummett have both won new Toon deals after impressing with St Mirren in Scotland last term.

Donachie told the Evening Chronicle: "I think we will see a lot more of the boys go out on loan next year.

"The experience Paul and Connor had with St Mirren by winning a cup final is something they will never forget.

"You could play three years for the reserves and not get anywhere close to that. The lads only get this from going out on loan. Again, it's about balance. Some of them will be better off in the under-21s while others should go out on loan.

"The most important aspect of bringing through players is patience. Look at Adam Campbell, who is with the England under-19 squad at the moment. He is only 18, but a very talented lad with a terrific attitude.

"But because he is so small, he might have to wait until he's 22 before becoming a first-team regular.

"The main thing for Newcastle is the lads are good enough and learn from being in and around the first-team."
