Newcastle check on Bulgarian, Spanish talent

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has expanded his scouting team.

The Evening Chronicle says former Sunderland striker Vic Halom is now working for United in Bulgaria, and the latest addition is Chris McMenemy, one of Kevin Keegan's coaches in his time at St James's Park whose brief is to scour Spain for talent.

Allardyce said: "We are constantly monitoring the situation and our scouts are out 24/7 and we will just have to see how we go.

"They are under instructions to find us quality players, but there are not that many of them out there."
