Newcastle United chairman Chris Mort says manager Sam Allardyce will be allowed to spend big in the January market.

Mort sanctioned nine new signings this summer, but says more are to follow.

"Our minds are already turned to who we might bring in . . . and we'd like the focus to be on bringing in players that we can develop over the long term," the chairman told the Sunday Sun.
