Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is urging the board to get behind manager Rafa Benitez.
The Magpies' skipper has opened up on a pre-season of rumbling discontent behind the scenes.
The centre-back said: “I don't know what is holding the club back.
"We all know what we want as players and as staff and, for me, I'd make him the happiest man here if possible."
Speaking before the Newcastle players withdrew cooperation with the media earlier this week in a row over bonus payments for the new season, Lascelles added: “I can't reiterate enough how important he (Benitez) is.
“Since he has been here — promotion, finishing tenth, everybody loves him, the players love him.
“We've all got that same ambition and the same drive."
