Newcastle United captain Jonjo Shelvey was surprised to start from the bench for victory over Swansea City.
But Shelvey put aside his disappointment at not starting against his former club, rallying to the common cause.
“I was a bit surprised to be left out but I think the manager knows what he's doing," said the midfielder.
“You can't exactly criticise him with his record and CV which speaks for itself.
“It's not about me, it's about this club and maintaining Premier League status.
“We're all in this together and it's just nice to be in a happy dressing room after a game for once.
“If we'd lost this, that would have been us down but we got the win we deserved."
