Newcastle United have lost their appeal of Fabricio Coloccini's red card.
The Magpies skipper was sent off in the second half of his side's 3-0 loss to Everton on Sunday for a lunging challenge on Aaron Lennon.
Coloccini was given his marching orders for serious foul play but the Toon opted to contest the penalty of a three-match ban which the FA has denied.
The Argentine centre-back will now miss upcoming Premier League fixtures with Arsenal and Liverpool as well as the Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland.
