Newcastle United are close to a deal for PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

The Sun says Toon are set to land PSV keeper Zoet with an improved £2.25million bid.

The Dutch club knocked back Toon's opening £2m offer for the Dutch Under-21 stopper, who has 12 months left on his deal.

But Magpies boss Alan Pardew wants 22-year-old Zoet as cover for No 1 Tim Krul and his current understudy Rob Elliot.
