Temporary Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is delighted to welcome back defender Habib Beye from long term injury. The 31-year-old Senegal international made his return from a long-term ankle problem as a first-half substitute in Saturday's 3-1 home defeat by Arsenal.
Hughton said: "He's a good individual. With the experience that he's got, it was a judgement call on whether to start with him or not.
"But he's a player who has been out for a long time, and to bring him to a game of that intensity from the start wouldn't have been right.
"What happened is that he ended up getting a fair amount of time, and that will do him the world of good for the Chelsea game."
