Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is counting on defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to improve this season.
Yanga-Mbiwa's Toon career hit rock-bottom when he was substituted after a nightmare 45 minutes at Everton and then sent off against Liverpool. But Pardew has been impressed by the defender.
"As a young centre-half coming here from France, he was always going to have some games that didn't go so well," he said.
"But I have really admired his work ethic and the fact he has come back strongly after being left out."
