Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is delighted with their capture of Romain Amaltifano.
The Magpies manager's first capture of the summer signed a three-year deal last week, having arrived on a Bosman from Stade de Reims.
Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "Romain's a player who has been off the radar for a while, so it's going to take him some time to get back to his very, very best.
"However, he is coming into a great environment and I'm sure he'll settle very quickly. That's the beauty of the French market."
And Pardew added: "He plays across the midfield, a bit like Sylvain Marveaux."
