Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has called for the Premier League to save the Europa League.
According to Pardew, it's a bitter-sweet reward if the prize is the Europa League rather than the lucrative Champions League.
"The Premier League needs to look at it on our behalf," said Pardew, the Toon chief whose side lost to Benfica in the quarter-finals last year.
"The evidence is there that Thursday to Sunday is not fair. We want to be back in Europe but clubs are thinking twice about it.
"If you ask the chairmen of Swansea or Spurs whether the Europa League is something that's worked for them, I've a good idea what their answer would be.
"The demands of our domestic league are greater than in other countries.
"We're chasing that European spot but as a club, we're wary of it."
