Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew wants crisis talks with football chief Joe Kinnear over their lack of summer signings.

The Evening Chronicle says Kinnear is facing crunch talks with Pardew and his backroom team this weekend to explain Newcastle United's lack of progress in the transfer market.

But those discussions could be eased somewhat if Kinnear and football secretary Lee Charnley can make a breakthrough over the weekend with further discussions with the representatives of Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis and Aston Villa's Darren Bent planned.
