Newcastle boss Pardew urges goal-line technology introduction

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called for FIFA to introduce goal-line technology to the game.

Pardew's Magpies drew 2-2 at Everton last night but the visitors were lucky not to lose with the Toffees having a goal disallowed despite the ball clearly crossing the line.

Victor Ancihebe's 78th minute header was diverted onto the crossbar by Toon keeper Steve Harper but the ball deflected downwards and over the line before Mike Williamson cleared hastily.

Referee Mike Jones' linesman did not flag for the goal which in the end cost Everton the win and Pardew believes that video technology has to be introduced to modern day football.

"My analyst said to me it was over the line," he told reporters.

"These decisions are game-changers, there is no doubt about it and I am sure David (Moyes) will be very aggrieved.

"I have been saying all along that technology must come in and it has cost Everton a crucial goal."
