Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew feels Steven Taylor deserves England selection for the upcoming friendlies against Sweden and Spain.

Taylor has shone in their opening 10 unbeaten matches.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "Steven is more than capable.

"He has one of the best defensive records in the country.

"England have a good collection of centre-halves but he could easily fit in."
