Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits studying the Portuguese transfer market.

Pardew said he would not rule out a foray into the market in Portugal looking forward.

The United chief told the Evening Chronicle: "I've signed a few good Portuguese players in my time. I like the mentality of a Portuguese player.

"We played against Benfica and had two fabulous games against them.

"I have also followed Portuguese sides, Porto in particular."
