Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says Davide Santon is still adjusting to life in England.

The Italian has shaken off a knee scare and is ready to fight for his first team place.

But Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "It's about him acclimatising and getting used to the Premier League.

"This is a different ball game to Serie A.

"The way we work defensively is different and I think I can help him on that and quickly."
