Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says another Papiss Cisse-type signing could happen in January.

Pardew has assured fans their transfer market plans remain ambitious.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "Of course there is, if we think we are getting value for money.

"There is no way we will sign an £8million player who is 28. I know that, so there is no point me looking at them.

"But if there's a 22-year-old at £11million who has potential and I can convince him there is a £30million player there, it could be different.

"We still need to work within our budget and with the market we've got, we are probably on an even keel at the moment - with a good team."
