Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew retains interest in West Ham United defender James Tomkins.
The Daily Star says Pardew wants a no-nonsense stopper, preferably with Premier League experience, to stiffen the Toon backline.
But his hopes of signing long-time target Tomkins from West Ham look remote with the 25-year-old very much in Sam Allardyce's plans.
