Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew remains hopeful of adding to his squad before the summer market shuts.
Toon missed out on Aston Villa striker Darren Bent yesterday after he signed on-loan with Fulham.
Pardew said he was still hopeful of "one or two" new faces.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "We need a striker.
"Joe is working very hard."
