Newcastle boss Pardew ready to fly to Africa to bring back star duo

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is ready to fly to Africa to bring back his star duo.

Pardew has revealed that if either Senegal striker Demba Ba or Cheick Tiote, who plays for the Ivory Coast, make the Africa Cup of Nations Final in the Gabon capital of Libreville on February 12, he will fly out to act as a personal chaperone.

Pardew said: "The one thing I will do is that if either is in the final I'll be going out to make sure they come home.

"They won't be partying for a week after or anything - they'll definitely see me in the stand if they get to the final.

"The most important thing is they come back fit.

"Coming back fit and well is all I care about. We hope to be in the same position when they come back - hopefully better, certainly not worse.

"If we can do that and get them two back it will be a hell of a boost for us, it really will be.

"Can you imagine if we manage to keep seventh position and those two arrive back in a good state of mind, hopefully one of them having won a trophy?

"Hopefully it will be a big lift for us. Its not like we're losing them for half a season."
