Newcastle boss Pardew: QPR beating us for Remy was major blow

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew knows victory over QPR tomorrow will see them safe.

Pardew reckons the biggest blow was missing out on striker Loic Remy, who was set to replace Demba Ba after he quit for Chelsea.

He was gazumped when QPR chairman Tony Fernandes got his chequebook out in a bid to save his side from relegation.

Now Pards must hope Remy does not leave him with more regrets at Loftus Road tomorrow.

He said: "The fact that we missed out on him was a major blow to our season as it is difficult to get a striker in that window."
