Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits he's told director of football Joe Kinnear to get a new signing through the front door.

The Toon are yet to make a senior addition this summer.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "I'm pushing Joe to get a transfer in. I think we need a boost now.

"We are in a situation where we want to progress now. The team is in a good place."
