Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew feels Roberto Mancini has done well with his management of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
Pardew worked with Tevez at West Ham United.
He said: "Mancini wanted to make a stand and show who was boss. When you have a lot of egos and players on massive wages, you have got to make a stand as a manager.
"Tevez made a stand as well. He is a character with his own personality and the outcome was that they both lost in the end.
"And now they are both winning and only the ultimate goal of winning the title will mean it worked out OK."
