Ferguson and Tavernier have been mainstays on the bench this season, but Pardew feels that they are still very much “learning their trade” on the professional circuit.
He told the Evening Chronicle: “Without Ryan Taylor and Steven Taylor we are looking at Tav and Fergie and blooding them in.
“They shouldn’t be here at this level.
“They should be in the development side or in the Championship learning their trade.
“Throwing them in during these games is not easy.”
