Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew made a scouting check on Switzerland this week.
The Mirror says Pardew has made a personal check on Swiss ace Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Newcastle boss flew to Switzerland to check out their game with Bulgaria in Basel on Tuesday night.
He also watched long-term target Eren Derdiyok in the hope he will be backed with funds in January.
Shaqiri caught the eye with a hat trick. Derdiyok, 23, has grabbed 18 goals in 65 matches for Bayer Leverkusen.
