Montpellier hitman Olivier Giroud is a £10 million target for Newcastle United.

The Sun says Magpies chief Alan Pardew has had the striker watched several times this season.

He has bagged eight goals in 12 games and is leading the French scoring charts.

Giroud, 25, has just received his first call-up by France boss Laurent Blanc after a barnstorming start to the season.

He made his debut last Friday as a sub in the 1-0 win over USA.
