Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew praised Paul Woolston for his performance in the U21's 1-0 win over Manchester United this week.
Woolston, 15, only discovered he was playing against United at Whitley Park, home to Newcastle Falcons, an hour before kick-off.
And the Academy keeper, called up because of a keeper crisis following an injury to number one Tim Krul earlier in the week, pulled off a string of fine saves to deny the Barclays Premier League champions' second string as Newcastle won 1-0.
Pardew remarked: "The 15-year-old Paul Woolston got his chance and he was superb. We all enjoyed watching him."
