Newcastle boss Pardew has total faith in stand-in keeper Elliot

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is set to turn goalkeeper Rob Elliot as they chase a top four spot.

Tim Krul has suffered back spasms in the build-up to their clash with Stoke City and although the Dutchman will be given ample time to prove his fitness before kick-off, Pardew is prepared to hand his £1million signing from Charlton his Barclays Premier League debut.

Pardew said: "Tim had a little spasm in his back and it should go away but if not, Robbie Elliot will play. Robbie's been absolutely brilliant in the background here and I wouldn't be against him playing. If I think Tim is in any doubt, he won't play."
