Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is delighted with their win at Aston Vila.
Newcastle won just twice away from home on the domestic front last season.
However, wins at Morecambe in the League Cup and Villa in the league have already equalled that poor record from the previous campaign.
Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "As a manager, you go into press conferences and you are told 'you ain't won away yet'. It builds. It was nice to get that one early.
"Apart from 20 minutes when they bombarded us with high balls, I thought we were in control."
