Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew fears Fabricio Coloccini is out for six weeks.
Coloccini took a knock during his side's 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at West Bromwich Albion and limped off after 65 minutes.
Pardew said afterwards: "It is early days but we could be looking at four to six weeks out."
