Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew sees James Tavernier as a future first teamer.
The Evening Chronicle says Pardew wants to replace Danny Simpson with a new right-back and offer James Tavernier the chance to challenge as back-up.
Tavernier will get his fair share of chances to impress in both pre-season and the Europa League and Carling Cup, with Pardew keen to hold on to the 20-year-old with his contract up at the end of this month.
