Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is confident keeping hold of striker Andy Carroll.

Pardew reckons he was assured that Carroll would not be leaving when he signed on at St James' Park.

And he added: "Andy Carroll is an outstanding young player with a hell of a future in front of him over the next 10 to 15 years if he manages to keep himself sane in the mad world that he's now in."
