Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is planning a summer raid on former club West Ham United.

But Pardew will have a harder job persuading him to bid for Demba Ba, especially as the West Ham striker's knee problems mean he may not pass a medical.
Reports linking Carlton Cole with a move north are thought to be wide of the mark, with Freddie Piquionne a more likely target.
