Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew hopes for big things from Sammy Ameobi this season.

Pardew feels the winger can establish himself at St James' Park over the next 12 months.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "I hope he can play a big part for us this season, but he needs to continue like this. That's the most important thing.

"We felt last season he could have made an impact and it didn't happen.

"So this is a big, big year for him."
